Daniel Luffman
Crossfit Coach/Owner

Originally from Sunset Park, Brooklyn, Dan is a New Yorker through and through and a civil servant to the end.  Graciously serving our country in the Marine Corps once he finished high school, Daniel Luffman served honorably in Operation Desert Storm in the early 90’s.  After several years in the Corp receiving numerous decorations, Dan grew from a Rifleman to a Sergeant when he was honorably discharged.  Having served his country, Dan returned home to New York City to serve his home in the NYPD at the 70th precinct.  After nine years Dan continued in his pattern of promotions and became a Detective in the 70th Precinct.

In 2006, Dan moved to Long Island. It was at this point that Dan reached one of his greatest physical challenges. After years of performing at his peak physical ability, Dan was struggling with his own physical fitness. As a result, he began training at Bellmore Kickboxing Academy. Still wanting more, Dan joined CrossFit Merrick to keep training. After two years, he was inspired and achieved his Level 1 CrossFit certification and started teaching at Merrick CrossFit. In the last four years, Dan retired from the NYPD and in April of 2012, he started helping others reach their physical peak when he opened CrossFit Lighthouse. He holds a CrossFit Level 1 along with CrossFit Endurance, CrossFit Olympic Lifting, CrossFit Kids and USAW Level1 Sports Performance Coach Certifications.

Testimonials

*Well, maybe its an addiction. Almost four months ago, July 1st to be exact, I decided to get my health back in order and get myself into better shape. I joined an intense (extreme?) workout regiment called CrossFit. For those that have spoken/seen me in that last few months, they know I cannot shut up about it. Well, one of the guys in my "Box" wrote an interesting piece on his website regarding his first 3 months as a CrossFit member. His articulate article puts everything I feel/experienced about CrossFit in one piece. If you have time and/or are thinking of getting back into shape, or if you are physically fit and are looking for a new physical challenge, I highly suggest you read the article.

November 1st will be my 120th day as a CrossFit member. To date, I am just shy of losing 30lbs. The weight loss, however, doesn't tell the whole story. The amount of lean muscle mass put on has been equally impressive. I hope to hit my goal by next week.

PS. My wife joined as well for moral support & in the process has gotten hooked too.*
